How the new trays fit the 18xx game boxes?

Recently, I bragged about prototypes of new trays. It took a long time to prepare them, I was sure they would be ready in November, but we didn’t receive them until January. Fortunately, production is expected to start in February. Meanwhile, I’m checking new trays to games that I have on the shelf and I can see that in many of them the tiles tracks and wooden tokens will be easier to arrange (e.g. the box from 1862 will close completely).

I will update this list soon and in the meantime the result of my quick try I present below:

  • 18Mex AAG new edition needs 4 trays that fit everything perfectly:
    • 2 x 8mm trays for green and brown tracks
    • 1 x 15mm short tray for yellow tracks
    • 1 x 8mm short tray for tokens
  • 18Mex AAG old laminate edition as above but:
    • 2 x 8mm trays for green and brown tracks
    • 1 x 15mm short tray for yellow tracks
    • 1 x 8mm short tray for tokens or 1 x short 15mm tray for tokens (if you used 10mm cylinders)
  • 1846 GMT edition (previously there were 3 trays):
    • 1 x 15 mm tray for yellow / green tiles
    • 1 x 8 mm tray for yellow / green tiles
    • 1 x 15mm short tray for brown tracks
    • 1 x 8mm short tray for tokens
  • 18CZ & 1844/54 – here will be the biggest changes, because our extra low trays, which will be available in March, will fit here the best. To 18CZ you will need: 3 x 4mm tray + 1 x 8 mm tray + 1 x 15 mm tray
  • 1824 – no changes
  • 1830 – no changes

more titles soon…

As soon as I get the final prototype and know the final production date, I will add new trays to our store. During the first few weeks, they will be available at a promotional price.

New tray for small track tiles (1822, 1822MX, 18OE…) are almost ready too. They will be produced together with the trays described above. However, I recently got one of the games (1822MX) to which these trays are dedicated and it turned out that the track thicknesses are higher than expected. I wanted 6 tiles in one compartment, while the indentations on the lid are too large and the tray with so many tracks hardly closes.

That is why I ordered a new matrix for the lid, with a very big request that it be made as soon as possible. If everything goes as promised by the manufacturer, production will start from the beginning of February.

  1. 1. Are you still working on even more shallow trays, if possible, for games like 1849?

    2. Any ideas what trays to use for 1860 from AAG?

    1. 1. Yes, the shallow trays are in development phase.
      2. To 1860 you will need :
      – 2 x 12mm tray
      – 2 x 6mm tray (in development) or 2 x 12mm tray

  2. I have to celebrate and congratulate you on this work. I really like that you pay attention to detail and continue to develop the products. I will surely place a large order once the dust settles on the new trays and possible configurations for the games. Keep up the great work!
