On the BGG forum appeared information from Hanno Girke from Lookout Games (https://boardgamegeek.com/article/29619531#29619531), which electrified the 18xx gaming community. So far, we were imformed that a demo version will be prepared for this year’s GenCon to present the changes. However, the latest information is that the demo version will not be prepared, because the layout has not changed and only the errors of the previous release have been corrected.
You did not have to wait long for the voices of dissatisfaction, because the graphic design of latest release was and is still heavily criticized by the most experienced players. On the other hand, you can not forget that these players have their copy of 1830, and to encourage new players to buy, unfortunately, this can not be done with ascetic graphics.
However, a few people noticed that not only graphic layout was imperfect in the previous edition, but for example, as Phil Campeau asked “has the stock martlet been reformatted so the numbers are offset and not covered by company tokens? Do the Private Company cards now have text on them outlining their function? Were the double-sided cards eliminated?”
Despite these problems, I will buy my copy, because it will be my first of this title, and it is worth to have such a classic on the shelf.

Dotychczas przedstawiana była wersja, że na tegoroczny GenCon będzie przygotowana wersja demo, by zaprezentować zmiany. Natomiast najnowsze informacje są takie, że wersja demo nie zostanie przygotowana, ponieważ szata graficzna się nie zmieniła i poprawiono tylko błędy poprzedniego wydania.
Nie trzeba było długo czekać na głosy niezadowolenia, ponieważ szata graficzna tego wydania była i nadal jest mocno krytykowana przez najbardziej doświadczonych graczy. Z drugiej strony nie można zapomnieć o tym, że ci gracze swoją kopię 1830 już mają, a by zachęcić nowych graczy do zakupu niestety nie da się tego zrobić z ascetyczną grafiką.
Natomiast kilka osób zauważyło, że zostawiając już na boku szatę graficzną niedoskonałością poprzedniej edycji było np. złe umiejscowienie cyfry z ceną giełdową, która była zasłonięta przez tokeny, karty firm prywatnych, które nie miały wypisanych na sobie szczegółów czy też dwustronne karty pociągów. Muszę przyznać, że podpisuję się pod tymi wnioskami, bo są to bardzo niefunkcjonalne elementy.
Mimo tych problemów, ja kupię swój egzemplarz, ponieważ będzie to mój pierwszy tego tytułu, a warto na półce mieć takiego klasyka.
